Exercise: Build BoilingPot/DataLogger C++ Project#

Clone the exercise from https://codeberg.org/jfasch/2026-08-19-exercise-1. This creates a subdirectory 2026-08-19-exercise-1 in the current working directory (mine is ~/My-Projects/).

$ cd ~/My-Projects
$ git clone https://codeberg.org/jfasch/2026-08-19-exercise-1
...
$ ls -l
drwxr-xr-x. 1 jfasch jfasch  60 Aug 14 17:49 2026-08-19-exercise-1

Examine the project structure:

  • firmware/ apparently is the place for programs; there are two: boiling-pot.cpp and data-logger.cpp.

  • In toolcase/, there are three distinct directories containing further code. The structure suggests that the contents of each of these directories will make it into a library.

Add a CMake build description to this project. Most importantly, understand what are the nodes (remember: add_executable() and add_library() define nodes/targets), and what are the edges/dependencies between the nodes (remember: target_link_libraries() is used to draw edges).
